Dion Brunilton Francis was born in Roseau, Dominica in 1984. He grew up in the Kingshill community with his mother until 1997, he then moved to America as a teenager to live with his father who was serving in the United States Armed Forces. Due to his fathers' commitment to the country, he moved around a bit in his teenager years, but spent most of those years in Aberdeen, Maryland where he graduated high school.
Upon his graduation from high school in 2002, his family was relocated to Fort Lee, Virginia. This is where as a young man Dion decided that he would follow in his fathers' footsteps and pursue a career in the Armed Forces himself. He enlisted in the United States Army that following year in 2003 and served proudly for nearly nine years until he was discharged honorably in 2012 for medical reasons.
Because of his dedication and commitment to supporting and defending the nation he was awarded numerous medals and commendations to include two Army Good Conduct Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, as well as National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and many more.
He then working in a variety of industries (Telecommunication, Petroleum Services, Information Technology) using the skilled he learnt in the military to support industry leaders such as Time Warner Cable now Spectrum, Dish Network in all matters of telecommunications for about four years.
In 2017 he decided to make a change and entered the Petroleum Service and Information Technology field as a Field Support Technician for Major Oil Companies (MOC) such as BP, Shell, Exxon Mobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips and many more while also attending college pursing a degree in Marketing.
As luck would have it, all those skills that he had been cultivating and perfecting over the years as well as his degree in marketing would come in handy with the next role in his career.
Nearing the end of 2022, He made a career change for the better when he was offered a position at the Cumberland County Department of Public Health as a Public Information Specialist. He would go on to help grow and shape the image of the Cumberland County public health through visually and aesthetically pleasing graphics including illustrations, logos, layouts and photos, that establish a vision for the organization’s public image.
